In my hangar there is like up to a few thousands of these Mids insignia, from all around except for Minmatars. Soon i will collect them as well.
In my country, mids, in short for the midshipman, are just soon-to-be-high-flying-officers, after a course of two years of real, fucking, harsh training, they get to be Attached Officers on smaller ships, before going on after a few months as an AO.
Much akin to an OJT, (On Job Trainee) they are the lowest life form on the ship and was made to do alot more things, and tend to only sleep up to only 6 hours at best, no sleep for the worse.
They do and learn what officers do, and also do what the seaman onboard do.
Basically, all the damn shit that is needed to be done.
I have worked with a few groups of them.
They laughed through their pain, and just smiled through their pains. Man, I really do envied them for having such strong wills.
Back to main topic:
In my speciality in the real life Navy, we do have a certain thing called IFF, "Indicated Friend-Or-Foe" or otherwise.
In EvE, you see people as red, blue, neutral or so on tags on them, and no matter how far the person is from you, you can still manage to get a look onto the person on what vessel he is in and look up to him maximum at 100km.
Radars do have a certain range for scanning out for these kinda signatures up to a certain maximum distance, and only if the transmitting vessel is showing what is it's intention and so on, it only has a black question mark on it's signal.
Just wondering if EvE is going to make things happen, I think adding an IFF to the system would have been most interesting:
First; it complicates the game itself and make it more realistic.
Second: Old-school soldiers get to have their touch and just get on with what they have been when they are still in service.
Third: IFF? Yeah I just wanna see if this shit works.
Lastly, may as well have the function to share signatures between alliances so as to not shoot on sight.

Just on an L4 mission with my Drake, this scene is kinda nice when all the ships are on aggro onto my friend at the back, till his armor went to 50% in a shot from the Nos. lol.

Oh yeah, this Titan locked onto me as soon as I closed up onto him, where I am heading up towards an Avatar. I got scrammed, webbed, nossed and pinched down to hull till I managed to warp to safety.

Sooner after the warpout, we arrived at the well known Sleeper site.
Hordes and hordes spawned and a few dozen killed in action here.
We managed to get through it all, only to be left by the hundreds.
